Starting from the reception of your hotel we make our way, passing the Eucalyptus and Mimosa forests unto the breathtaking mountains of Pico do Arieiro at 1800m, descending to Ribeiro Frio where you will find the trout hatchery we stop for a short walk in the most beautiful old forest of Madeira 45 minutes easy walk (this is not compulsory, no walk takes place in rain and bad weather). and the Santana UNESCO BIOSPHERE RESERVE. Taking the old road of Faial, Santana will be the next stop where you will find the traditional thatched houses and vines. A visit to an old original house is included. In this Village a lunch stop will be made. Driving along the sugar cane village a stop for rum tasting. Driving the Southeast coast of Machico where the first Portuguese settlers arrived in the 15 century. The next stop is at Ponta de São Lourenço the eastern point cape of the Island where the rock formation will astound you, we then return to hotel.

Departure from the hotel at 9:00 am towards the parish of Camacha to observe the wicker factory and all its process. Afterwards, climb to Pico do Areeiro at 1818m, where you can observe the beautiful mountains and surrounding valleys and even the parish of Curral das nuntas, deep in one of the great valleys. Descent to Ribeiro Frio, where there is a nursery of trout that later are dropped in the brook.
A visit to the center of Santana is followed to observe the typical triangular houses with thatched roof, followed by another stop in Faial. Returning to Funchal, you will have two more stops, at the belvedere of Ponta de São Lourenço and Machico.

Hike at your own rhythm on a self-guided trek in Caldeirão Verde. Explore the incredible Laurissilva Forest and mystical trail along a water channel, with green views on one side and stunning waterfalls along the other. Observe the waterfalls, ancient endemic trees, the Levada trail, and feel the nature of Queimadas.
Get picked up at your accommodation with a shared transfer (up to 8 guests per van). Arrive at your destination and receive your hike instructions with scheduling and map explanation. The hike is a round trip trail totalling 13 km in length. The starting and ending point are the same - at Queimadas Park.
This hike will take you 5 hours to complete. The minimum elevation on this tour is 872-meters whereas the maximum is 1062-meters, so it's not known for hills or stairs. However, you will encounter 4 tunells with a max lengh of 200 metres.
